yea its safe just make sure you have a CLEAN CUT and insulate the ends if you can strip it through the outer connector and you will find two tiny wires and then cut or insulate them with hotglue or electrical tape
Fiberglassing second enclosure this time it was MUCH EASIER FOR THE FOLLOWING LESSONS THAT I LEARNED
- do not mix batches of resin more than 3 oz because you will not have enough working time before your cup starts to set and become gloopy and hot (the setting is exothermic so be careful with a cup that starts to set it may actually become hot enough to burst into flames or melt so break up large chunks)- work in sections for this I only did the main cone and not the edges or sides or front I am letting that set first then doing it insections it’s much easier that way
- tacking the cloth down with a staple gun works beautifully if you don’t mind staples in the final product also TACK THE EDGES OF THE CLOTH so the threads cant unravel when you coat them which is a hassle and can ruin your work
- I do want to try folding over the edges but i have not tried that yet also the plastic knife is the best tool
- when applying resin do not pour it on, dip the knife in like you are spreading a jar of honey ( it is a similar consistency ) and just pull it out and spread it on an work it back and forth into the cloth,
- you will know you have enough on when the cloth becomes translucent an you can see underneath and work and small white spots out with a small dab of resin
- when applying resin over edges of the cloth work diagonally as to keep the fibers flat but not to unravel loose ones and cause a messI will make a larger post later
i may make an instructable if all goes well
